On Monday, April 5th, a New Jersey court of appeals upheld a verdict in a mesothelioma lawsuit that resulted in a 30.3 million dollar award to a family in NJ. The lawsuit resulted in the largest cash award for an asbestos case ever in the state. The lawsuit was brought on by Susan Buttitta, whose husband Mark Buttitta died from the exposure of asbestos. The lawsuit awarded to the Buttitta family will be paid by Borg Warner Corporation and Asbestos Corporation Limited; three other companies involved in the lawsuit settled their case either before or during the trial.

Florida Asbestos Dumping
Three men were arrested in Polk County, Florida after they were caught illegally dumping asbestos. Reports indicate the three men were caught dumping construction debris contaminated by asbestos in a swamp area in Polk County, FL.
