A Sacramento personal injury law firm of Demas & Rosenthal recently won a $2.5M verdict. The verdict is the largest personal injury verdict awarded in Tuolumne County, California to date. The case was heard in Tuolumne County Superior Court in Sonora California.

The partners of Demas & Rosenthal, John N. Demas and S. David Rosenthal, received a favorable verdict in the case of Hueso v. Diestel Turkey Ranch. Attorney John N. Demas represented the children of Mr. and Mrs. Hueso, a husband and wife who were tragically killed in an automobile accident. The auto accident occurred when their vehicle collided with a truck operated by Diestel Turkey Ranch.

During the initial investigation, the California highway Patrol found the driver the vehicle, Mr.Hueso at fault. The family of the victims took the issue further and filed a personal injury lawsuit proving Mr. Hueso was the victim of the accident and was not at fault.

The Huesos’ first attempt to a settle the case out of court was turned down by Diestel Turkey.  The defense alleged they were not the negligence party and would offer nothing towards a settlement. The attorney that initially took the case for the Huesos’ decided to refer it to John N. Demas, an experienced trial attorney who represents plaintiffs throughout the state of California.

Mr. Demas was able to prove the trailer lights on the truck were not properly working and as a result an accident occurred. Mr. Demas was also able to prove that Diestel’s trucks were not maintained to industry standards and drivers were not provided the necessary safety training. As a result, the jury awarded the victim $2,500,000 for the tragic loss of the life of Mr. & Mrs. Hueso. This settlement is believed to be the largest personal injury settlement in Tuolumne County.
